Commercial rebates and incentives: SourceGas
SourceGas offers a custom efficiency rebate program for multifamily residences, commercial and industrial customers,
and very large homes. It includes:
- Free walk-through audit
- 50 percent rebate for engineering-grade energy audit
- 50 percent rebate for incremental costs of energy efficiency
upgrades directly related to natural gas consumption
Paul Smith is the commercial and residential energy efficiency manager for SourceGas, based in Lakewood. He will have an initial telephone conversation with commercial customers to discuss energy use, building condition, heating systems and building controls in order to determine the best course of action for each customer..
If the customer has a good sense of what upgrades are needed, the process moves quickly. Smith can also schedule a walk-through audit and make suggestions about various efficiency measures.
To request a free telephone consultation or walk-through audit, contact Paul Smith at

Engineering-grade energy audit rebate
Smith may recommend that commercial customers have a commercial energy audit or engineering-grade energy analysis. SourceGas offers up to a 50 percent rebate on the cost of such audits.
To apply for a SourceGas 50 percent rebate for an engineering-grade energy audit, contact Paul Smith

Energy efficiency upgrades rebate
SourceGas will pay up to 50 percent of the incremental costs for the following efficiency upgrades, which include the following:
High-efficiency gas heating system
Boiler/burner improvements
Heating system improvements
Water heating system improvements
Gas-fired process equipment improvements
Control improvements
Heat recovery
Ceiling/wall insulation
Cogeneration and other combined heat and power systems (where the heat recovered offsets a lower-efficiency heat generating source)
The incremental cost is the difference between standard equipment and high-efficiency equipment.
For example, the standard efficiency of a commercial boiler is about 80 percent, while a high-efficiency boiler can reach 85 to 92 percent. The price differential between the two levels of efficiency can range from $1,500 for a small commercial building to $17,500 for a large building, such as a hospital.
Under the SourceGas rebate program, SourceGas would pay up to half that incremental cost so customers can see a faster payback in energy savings.
To apply for a SourceGas 50 percent rebate for incremental costs of energy efficiency upgrades, contact Paul Smith at (303) 243-3469 or paul.smith@sourcegas.com
