ENERGY STAR New Homes
ENERGY STAR® qualified homes are independently verified to meet rigorous guidelines for energy efficiency, as set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
By purchasing an ENERGY STAR qualified home, you can have all the features you desire in your new home, plus better performance and lower utility bills -- all while helping prevent greenhouse gas emissions.
ENERGY STAR homes are at least 15 percent more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC), and include additional energy saving features that typically make them 20–30 percent more efficient than standard homes.
While many homes look great from the outside, it is important to see behind the walls to be sure the home is truly energy efficient. To learn more, take a virtual tour of four “must-have” features of ENERGY STAR qualified homes.
The home’s actual energy performance must be certified by an independent Home Energy Rater. The rater conducts onsite testing and inspections of installed insulation, high performance windows, building envelope, duct systems, and efficient heating and cooling equipment.
