Waste Not, Watt Not! Change out your incandescent bulbs for energy-saving compact fluorescents or LEDs

compact fluorescent light bulbSave energy starting today with energy efficient compact fluorescent and LED light bulbs

Compact fluorescent light bulbs use 75 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs and last 10 times longer.

Use these bulbs to replace incandescent bulbs of the same watts, in the fixtures you use the most.

Save energy, bulb by bulb

Put compact fluorescent bulbs in fixtures that you use about two hours per day, and you will save about $3 a year on your electricity bill.

With proper installation, these bulbs will last 10 to 11 years, so you’ll save another $10 by avoiding light bulb replacement costs.

In 2007, Americans saved $1.5 billion by switching to ENERGY STAR-qualified CF bulbs – enough energy to light every household in a city the size of Washington, D.C. for 30 years.

Save big by investing in a whole-house light bulb replacement program

  • Count the bulbs in your house, determine what sizes and shapes you need, and make a plan to replace two to five bulbs per month.
  • Start with the lights you use the most.
  • The payback on bulb replacements is less than two years, and you’ll enjoy lower electric bills right away.
