Xcel Energy offers three discount home energy audit options for customers using natural gas and/or electric service:
Option 1: Standard audit
$60 charged to your next Xcel Energy bill
This audit includes a walk-through of your home, customized energy bill analysis to help you understand how much energy your home uses, a comprehensive audit report including a list of recommendations showing where you can save the most energy and money, and a comparison of costs and savings for the suggested improvements.
Option 2: Energy evaluation with blower door test
$90 charged to your next Xcel Energy bill
The audit starts with a walk-through assessment of your home’s building envelope, mechanical systems and other energy uses, followed by a list of recommendations for energy efficiency improvements.
The blower door test involves the temporary installation of a vinyl sheet in a doorway of your home. The blower fan de-pressurizes your home, so the air leaks in your home will be drawing in air from outside. This test makes those leaky spots easy to find.
Option 3: Energy evaluation with blower door test and infrared imaging
$120 charged to your next Xcel Energy bill
The audit starts with a walk-through assessment of your home’s building envelope, mechanical systems and other energy uses, followed by a list of recommendations for energy efficiency improvements.

The infrared imaging device reveals spots in your home where insulation is skimpy and makes the air leaks visually evident. The imaging device is also a digital camera, so the home energy auditor will provide you with digital photos of problem spots on your home.
